Themes

Every STAGE PRESENCE PRACTICE will have a theme. Themes can be interpreted any way that you want within your performance:

  • the theme word can be in your song
  • your song can be about the theme
  • the theme reminds you of a song

Be creative! Keep it simple 🙂

You may schedule private one-on-one singing lessons to work on your songs, scripts, presentations and mic technique

IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS!!! How to Prep for your Stage Presence Practice

  1. Choose and prepare your song(s):
    1. Song #1
      • You can sing with an instrumental backing tracks or musical instrument
      • Either an mp3, karaoke track or you can play your guitar
      • No lead vocals on tracks (backup singers are fine)
      • 4 min or less (you will be cut off if you go over)
    2. Song # 2 - not mandatory/if there is enough time
      • you may bring an extra song your working on in case there is time at the end of the class - no guarantees
      • no feedback
      • 4 min or less (you will be cut off if you go over)
  2. Perform your song
        1. Solo duo or trio? If you want, you can connect with fellow students and present as a duo or trio!
        2. It's recommended that you memorize your song/script/presentation
      • Get feedback and learn tools to make your performance rock

Backing tracks:

  • purchase and download a clean instrumental track (in your key) at karaokeversion.com or choose a free instrumental/karaoke video on You Tube
  • you may use your phone/mp3 player or send your tracks/links to carolyn@vocaleuphoria.com prior to class
  • tracks must be instrumental/background music only - no lead singer! (Do not use any you tube videos labelled "Karafun". They always have very faint lead vocals playing in the background)

Guitar

  • Yes you can play your own instrument if you like
  • very minimal gear/quick setup/plug and play
  • PA, Speakers and microphone will be provided

IMPORTANT! Please read the emailed appointment confirmation for rules, instructions and directions.

  • Be courteous and on time. Arrive 15 min prior to workshop.
  • The front doors are always locked but someone will come and let you in.

How to memorize a song ...FAST!

  1. Write out the lyrics while listening to the song without looking at the words.
  2. Trust yourself and sing it once without looking at the lyrics (turn the sheet over)
  3. Allow yourself to make some mistakes.
  4. When you are done singing it once, pick up the lyrics and look for the spots where you forgot the words.
  5. Sing it again without looking at the lyrics (turn the sheet over)
  6. Repeat this process until all the words are memorized

You will be surprised how fast the lyrics and the rhythm sink in!

How to memorize a speech ...FAST!

  1. Write out all the words. (if alot then work on a section at a time)
  2. Trust yourself and speak it once without looking at the lyrics (turn the sheet over)
  3. Allow yourself to make mistakes. This is normal.
  4. When you've gone through the entire speech/monologue once, pick up the lyrics and look for the spots where you forgot the words.
  5. Speak it again without looking at the words (turn the sheet over)
  6. Repeat this process until all the words are memorized
  7. If a dialogue you can use video or voice recorder to practice your lines with yourself.

You will be surprised how fast it all sinks in
