Vocal Euphoria is a Toronto-based voice and performance consulting practice supporting analytical professionals, speakers, and singers who need to communicate clearly under pressure.
The practice serves people who are capable, thoughtful, and often self-directed, yet find themselves stuck when it comes time to speak, sing, or perform. Many clients arrive having already tried to work things out on their own. Vocal Euphoria exists for what comes after that point.
The work recognizes that being heard is not simply a technical issue. It is personal, relational, and internal. Progress comes from clarity, safety, and learning how to work with the voice rather than trying to override it.
Vocal Euphoria offers private coaching, small-group work, workshops, and facilitated programs, both in person and online. While the practice supports beginners and experienced performers alike, it is particularly well suited to people who value depth, honesty, and individualized guidance.
Vocal Euphoria is a founder-led practice. It was created and is led by Carolyn Thompson, whose professional experience as a performer, educator, and coach shapes every aspect of the work.
Corporate and Executive Communication Work
In addition to private coaching and performance training, Carolyn works with technical and analytical professionals navigating high-stakes communication environments. Her corporate work focuses on applied execution ā helping professionals structure complex information clearly, stabilize delivery under pressure, and communicate with authority in leadership settings.
Her work is performance-based and diagnostic in nature ā focused on real-time execution in actual communication environments rather than abstract communication theory.
She has worked with professionals from firms including PricewaterhouseCoopers and Deloitte, as well as delivered performance-based work within corporate environments across the Greater Toronto Area.
About Carolyn Thompson
Carolyn Thompson is a professional singer, voice coach, performance consultant, and speaker based in Toronto. She is the founder and sole practitioner behind Vocal Euphoria.
Her work is informed by decades of professional experience across live music, stage performance, voice work, media, and education. As a performer, Carolyn has led bands, collaborated across genres, and held long-running residencies at Toronto venues including Harlem Restaurant and Centro Restaurant. These experiences required consistency, leadership, and the ability to hold a room ā skills that now inform her coaching practice. Her facilitation style is direct, responsive, and grounded in live adjustment rather than scripted delivery.
Teaching emerged organically from this performance background. Over time, Carolynās work expanded beyond singing into public speaking, facilitation, and performance consulting ā not as a departure from music, but as an extension of the same underlying work: helping people use their voice with confidence and clarity.
Origins and Approach
Vocal Euphoria grew out of real-world performance experience and community-based music making.
Its roots trace back to a long-running Monday night Jazz-Funk-R&B open jam at Harlem Restaurant in Toronto ā a space where singers of varying experience levels gathered to perform, collaborate, and take risks in front of a live audience. Over time, it became clear that many performers were not lacking talent or commitment, but support, perspective, and a place to develop confidence without pressure.
That experience helped shape the core approach: creating environments where people feel safe enough to explore, clear enough to understand whatās happening, and supported enough to move forward.
The work avoids one-size-fits-all methods and performative confidence strategies. Instead, it emphasizes trust, consistency, and presence ā whether a client is preparing for a performance, a presentation, or an important conversation.
Performance Labs Before Boardrooms
Before executive communication became my primary focus, I built and ran a live performance environment that taught me something critical about presence, authority, and decision-making under pressure.
From 2009ā2012, I founded and led the Harlem Open Jam Series ā creating a space where performers and professionals alike practiced real shows, managed live audience energy, and learned to respond instinctively in the moment. That experience was a live laboratory for vocal authority, presence, and presence-under-pressure ā the same capabilities executives and leaders need when their stakes are high.
Watch a short clip from the series below ā not as nostalgia, but as evidence of how I learned to shape rooms, read energy, and coach people in real time.
Teaching, Workshops, and Facilitation
Alongside private coaching, Carolyn has taught and facilitated voice and public speaking work in educational, community, and online settings.
Her experience includes workshops and classes with institutions such as Centennial College and Middlefield Collegiate Institute, as well as programs developed in collaboration with community and arts organizations including Urban Arts.
She has also taught public speaking to children through online education platforms such as Creative Club Global and AppleSmart Academy. Working across age groups has reinforced a core principle of her work: clarity matters, and confidence grows when people feel genuinely supported.
Performance, Media, and Direction
Carolynās professional background includes experience across stage, broadcast media, voice acting, and on-camera work, as well as serving as a voice and performance expert in filmed and broadcast contexts.
She has also worked as a music director for theatre and radio productions, including the Port Hope Radium Radio Hour, contributing to collaborative, performance-based storytelling beyond the studio.
This breadth of experience allows her to support clients navigating nerves, performance readiness, and high-pressure communication with practical, lived insight rather than theory alone.
Speaking and Thought Leadership
In recent years, Carolynās work has expanded into broader thought-leader spaces, including workshops, interviews, panels, and speaking engagements. She has spoken publicly at TEDx Milton, contributing to conversations about voice, confidence, and communication in wider public forums.
This work reflects a natural progression of her practice, while remaining grounded in one-on-one and small-group coaching.
Training and Professional Background
Carolynās training includes a Radio and Television Broadcasting Diploma from Seneca College, as well as a Skilled Trade Certificate in Life Coaching (AEC / DEP) from Rhodes Wellness College.
Her approach integrates communication training, coaching practices, and technical understanding shaped by decades of professional performance and teaching experience.
Closing
Vocal Euphoria and Carolyn Thompson are one and the same. The practice reflects the depth of experience, judgment, and care brought to the work.
Clients who find their way to Vocal Euphoria are often capable people who are tired of trying to solve voice and confidence challenges alone. The work offers a place to slow down, be supported, and be heard ā with guidance that is grounded, specific, and personal.
Media Recognition
In addition to TEDx, Iāve been invited to speak as a subject-matter voice expert on broadcast panels, including a feature on CTVās Pop Life, where I discussed performance psychology and the dynamics of presence in high-pressure situations.
With just one session, not only have my speech skills improved but my perspective has also shifted as I look toward elevating my public speaking career. Carolyn creates a safe, encouraging, and courageous space to develop your voice. It was a fun, informative, and impactful session! Will definitely continue to work with her!
Response from the owner:Thank you for this generous feedback. Working with speakers like youācurious, committed, and ready to elevateāis exactly why I do this work. You have a powerful message, and Iām excited to help you bring it forward with clarity, confidence, and impact. This is only the start.
If you had told me my vocal ability would improve after just one session, I might not have believed you – but that is exactly what I experienced!!!! Carolyn is truly a vocal sensei, a master at her craft who helps us move past the limits we place on ourselves! Thank you Carolyn!
Response from the owner:Thank you so much for this ā it truly means a lot. Watching that shift happen so quickly is one of my favourite parts of this work. You already had far more ability than you realized; the session simply helped clear the path so it could come through. Iām excited to see how you continue to stretch past those old limits and step fully into your voice.
As soon as Carolyn and her band walked in I could feel their energy! We hired them to play for our corporate event and our guests had a blast. Lovely band, will definitely hire them again.
Carolyn IS a Sensei! Truly a Master at her craft. I felt right at home and comfortable working with her right out of the gate⦠so much so, she nearly fell out of her chair when I told her in our 1st session āI TRUST YOUā.
Iāve been singing for awhile, but Iāve known of Carolynās work for years and I always knew I would call upon her when I needed help. Iām sure glad I did!
Response from the owner:Thank you so much for this. Your trust from day one genuinely stayed with me ā and yes, I still remember that moment. Iām so glad you finally called on me when the time was right. It was a joy working with you and supporting your voice.

We were fortunate enough to have the incomparable Queen Carolyn T (leading her 5-piece band) play at our Wedding Reception. I think it's fair to say we knew we WANTED to hire QCT after watching some of her sample clips, but we knew that we HAD to hire QCT within thirty seconds of meeting her (via Zoom at that). QCT's energy is infectious. She is assertive in the best way: the way that tells you she knows exactly what she's doing, and that you're in great hands. With regards to performance, from QCT's "velvet rasp", to the band's musicianship, to the simple red fabric unifying the look of each band member, QCT and her band oozed professionalism and simply brought the house down. She was even flexible in learning new pieces we requested (I Put a Spell on You blew the roof off the place). Can't wait to get married again so I can hire her. Sorry honey!
Response from the owner:Wow. Thank you for the high praise! I love my job!
It was easy to stay motivated with your consistent kindness, thoughtfulness, and professionalism, combined with your great sense of humour, graciousness and generosity. Thank you again for including me and my band to perform for you on your special day. So much fun!
Haha Canāt wait till you get married again, Randy and Andy! š
When Queen Carolyn T (QCT) and the band were doing the sound check all I could think was YES!!!! This is going to be amazing! And they did not disappoint. From my vantage point it was just perfect!
Throughout the planning process they were patient with us and followed up which was appreciated as weāre scattered, worked with us to design a flow for the event that worked well, worked with our budget and gave us several options, and answered all our questions especially the not fun ones about pandemics and cancellations.
We got sooooo many glowing comments from guests and a common question was where did you find this band? (so of course Iāll take credit for thatš)
It was an absolute delight to be on the dance floor enjoying what QCT does so well. Well worth the blisters. Thank you for making the party such a great time!
Carolyn has been coaching my 8 year old and I see a vast improvement in her confidence and vocal development. I sometimes can't believe my ears when I hear her singing. She's also learning a variety of music styles to the point of asking me to spin some ole skool music for her. I like that the program is goal driven and progress is measured. Credit to Carolyn for really taking her under her wings.
Response from the owner:Thank you so much for this thoughtful review. Watching confidence grow alongside skillāespecially at such a young ageāis one of the most rewarding parts of this work. Your support and trust made a real difference, and it was a joy helping her explore music with curiosity and confidence. Iām so glad the progress felt meaningful to you.
Carolyn is a great public speaking teacher! I am really excited for our sessions together as I am learning a lot of great skills I have been able to use in my speaking engagements!
Response from the owner:Wow! thank you so much. The pleasure is all mine š
Carolyn Thompson is a TEDx speaker, a singer and vocal performance coach. She also happens to rent office space at The Workaround. Iāve heard Carolyn with her students, so as I struggled this week to get the tone and pacing of my talk right, I asked to hire her for an hour. I figured even though I donāt need formal acting lessons to give a presentation, simply running through my talk with a pro would be a good use of time.
WELL. Here is a story of me going in with not many expectations and being totally blown away by talent. Itās a wonder why Carolyn isnāt booked up for months. In just 45 minutes not only did she give me tools for memorization that actually stuck in my brain, but she taught me skills I had never heard of before. And I give talks A LOT. I thought I knew what I was doing. But I was WRONG.
I have a better understanding of how to not jumble my words, to punch consonants and breathe correctly. I understand what it means to present confidence and really feel your words. Carolyn did that for me. I repeat, IN ONE SESSION. I had to hire her again this week so I could get even better at perfecting my delivery.
If you are preparing for a talk, even virtually, I HIGHLY recommend a virtual hour with Carolyn. She brought my talk to the next level. I am more confident for filming than I ever was, and this is saying a lot given Iāve been in lockdown with two sick kids and solo parenting and trying to manage a business from home. I was sure Iād be screwing this whole thing up. But Carolyn truly helped me, beyond what I thought, and I was reminded to ditch the whole "I'm an expert and have got this" ego. I went into a learning session willing, but not expecting, to be molded, and I was TRANSFORMED. Do it. Hire Carolyn. The end <3
Response from the owner:Dang. This is a massive compliment. Thank you!
Its all you. I just pulled out what was already inside you. I can't wait to see you rock your TED Talks!
Carolyn is wonderful. I enrolled my 9 year old daughter to for her singing class. She truly enjoys every moment. Great energy. Thanks for a start to a wonderful vocal experience.
Carolyn is both perceptive and supportive. She knew exactly what I need to work on and provided really clear direction on achieving these goals.
Response from the owner:Thank you Barbara! I am so proud of how far you have come. Keep up the good work. Your songwriting skills are awesome and your singing is getting better every time I see you. You got this!
Thank you Carolyn & your band for making my 50th Birthday Party the talk of the town! You created an easy and fun atmosphere for us to celebrate. People who weren't even there are telling me it was a great party!!
Queen Carolyn sang at our wedding and everyone was so impressed! Not only does she have a beautiful voice, but her band was also very talented. The range of songs they personalized for us was out of this world, we couldnāt have asked for a more special day!
