How to Set Up Earpeggio (Musicate) for Interval Identification:
  1. Download and Install the App:
    • Search for Earpeggio (or Musicate) in the App Store (for iOS users).
    • Install the app and open it.
  2. Initial Setup:
    • When you first launch the app, you may be prompted to create a user account or sign in. Follow the on-screen instructions to get started.
  3. Go to Interval Identification Section:
    • On the home screen, you will see different exercises. Choose the option for Interval Identification.
  4. Set Root Note to C:
    • In the settings or when prompted, set the Root Note to C. This will ensure all intervals start from the note C, making it consistent with what you’re learning in class.
  5. Select Intervals to Practice:
    • For this week’s practice, select the following intervals:
      • Unison (C to C)
      • Major 3rd (C to E)
      • Perfect 5th (C to G)
      • Octave (C to high C)
  6. Start the Practice Session:
    • Once your intervals are selected, start the interval identification exercise.
    • The app will play an interval starting from C, and you’ll need to identify which interval it is by choosing from the options provided.
  7. Track Your Progress:
    • After each practice session, Earpeggio provides feedback. Try to aim for steady improvement over time by practicing for about 10-15 minutes per day.
How to Set Up The Ear Gym for Interval Identification:

    • Once you’re in the app, look for the Interval Identification exercise.
    • This might be in a menu called Exercises or Training—select the one that focuses on intervals.
  4. Set the Root Note to C:
    • In the settings, find an option to set the Root Note.
    • Set the Root Note to C. This will ensure that all intervals are measured from the note C, matching what you’re working on in class.

    • The app will play intervals starting from C, and you’ll need to identify which interval is being played by selecting the correct answer.
  7. Monitor Your Progress:
    • The app should provide feedback on how well you identify the intervals. Aim for consistent improvement by practicing for at least 10-15 minutes a few times this week.

Additional Notes:

  • New recordings for the Major 3rd and Perfect 5th harmonies in the chorus of “Lean on Me” will be provided as soon as possible, but until then, keep practicing with what you have.
